Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Who is DTL?

David T. Lord is a business consultant, coach, and facilitator with over 25 years of experience working with businesses of all types and sizes. David helps companies identify the processes that need improvement, then shows them how to put the necessary processes improvements in place.

What type of businesses do you work with?

We work mostly with established service-related firms, with annual revenues between $750,000 and $15 million. This means we often work with companies involved in: construction, mortgages, IT, small manufacturing, training, and selling/servicing vehicles. But regardless of the industry, every business depends on effective processes and project management practices.

For companies in industries where we have little experience, we’re happy to give referrals to other qualified professionals.

What do you charge?

DTL is neither the cheapest nor the most expensive consulting company. Our fee depends on the scope of the project. We offer a free assessment companies that might want to consult with us (a $1,250 value). After the assessment we’ll have a better understanding of the scope of work involved, then we can price our services accordingly.

How is DTL different than other business consultants?

Many (not all) consulting companies are in the business for quick wins. They’ll make changes to your business that might lead to positive results, but they’re often short-lived. Often, when the project ends, the problems come back. Sometimes they even get worse.

We focus instead on long-term, structural solutions. How? By getting employees involved in new processes from day one. That’s the only way to solve business problems in the long term.

Do you have a minimum project size?

No. We understand that choosing a partner to help you grow your business is a big decision. And we want you to be comfortable you’re making the right choice. So we’re happy to work on small projects, because they often lead to longer-term engagements once our clients start to see results.

How many companies have you worked with?

We’ve worked with more than 100 businesses over the past 25 years … some very large, and some very small. But all of them have been committed to growing their business using the principles laid out in our ‘Getting Better in 90 Days’ service and David’s book, The Visual System of Work.
